This afternoon I met up with a best friend and blend: Kerry.
During a phone convo last night, Kerry mentioned that she was craving some High Line time this weekend. Although we both have been a few times, the High Line is the perfect place to get some fresh air on a summer day. Bonus — a new section opened very recently. I was all to0 happy to join Kerry in her adventure!
For those who are wondering what the heck I am talking about: The High Line is a walking path/park built on an abandoned railroad track that runs along the west side of Manhattan — traveling through Chelsea, down into the Meatpacking District. The park is full of gorgeous wildflowers, local art, music performances, and food stands. It only just opened in 2008, so it is still very much in the development process — I love to go back often and see what new things have popped up!
We entered the High Line through the 30th st entrance and meandered all the way down to 14th st.
It was so refreshing to be outside and to catch up with a good friend. Kerry is one of those friends that you start out talking about the weather and five minutes later you are discussing “what makes you truly happy?” So, she drags me outdoors and puts perspective into my life all in one afternoon? Yep, I’ll keep her.
On our walk I snapped a picture of this funny tree(?), which Kerry immediately named: “Puff.”
Seriously, what the heck is that gorgeous weirdness?
After our walk, we headed to Lenny’s for a late lunch. Having only sipped a green juice since breakfast, I was beyond starving. I ordered my favorite Lenny’s sandwich: The Chicavo.
Delish! Kerry enjoyed the Vegetarian Special:
More chatting and life examining ensued:
All in all, a delicious day!
I’m currently finishing up the remaining half of my Chicavo for dinner, along with some Tostitos Lime Chips and a Sam Summer. Tonight is filled with laundry, vacuuming and roommate searching. Another crazy night… you know how I do!
